The International Shoe Museum

Situated in Romans, this Museum is a witness of a civilization and of the “objet d’art”: the shoes are on show in this Museum! Situated in the former Convent of the Visitation, this place tells the story of footwear, from ancient to modern times, and across 5 continents. The building and the gardens around the museum are listed as Historical Monuments.

Tools, machinery and video documents trace the history of the shoe. From mummified feet of ancient Egypt, to musketeers’ boots, from tiny boots of Chinese women to the long pointed shoes… all shapes and sizes can be found in the Shoe museum in Romans.
