The Palais Ideal du Facteur Cheval

The Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval, or 40 years of perseverance, recognized worldwide as a work of “Naive Art” and “Art Brut”. Situated in Hauterives, you cannot miss this very special monument, built with stones that Facteur Cheval, a postman, picked up during his rural mail delivery rounds.

This monument represents 33 years of single-handed labour, an absolutely fascinating example of “Naive Art” classified by the Historical Monuments in 1969 by André MALRAUX (the French Minister in charge of Culture, at that time).
